Thanksgiving 2007 was fun. Last year, it was just us. This year – we were excited to have company. The Parnin clan drove up from Connecticut for the holiday. They left early on the Tuesday before Turkey Day and departed Maine on Saturday.
Quincy remembered their kids from when we visited them last November in CT. We have their pictures on the ‘fridge. Oddly enough, the one Parnin he could identify easiest and say easiest was Frank. He loved to point at his picture and loudly proclaim his name. While they were here, Quincy liked to go around the dinner table and name everyone who was present.
We spent most of the time just hanging around our house and watching the kids play. We did bravely eventure out to supper one night to Quincy’s favorite place – Ruby Tuesday. Everybody did well there for the most part – not bad for a party of seven!
Thanksgiving itself featured too much food (as usual), but we had prepared much of it ahead of time. We didn’t know we were getting a dishwasher with the visit (thanks Steph!) and I miss that very much now. 😉
On Friday, we did NOT go shopping. We did, however, all go to the children’s museum in downtown Bangor. If you recall, Quincy had been there one other time – back in April with his cousins. I think he liked it more this time and it seemed to be more interesting. There were some holiday type things there and it just looked like they had more things to do.
We all had a great holiday and Quincy really enjoyed having other kids to play with. Mary took the lead as the social director for the playing most of the time. She would tell Quincy what to do and even though he had no idea what she wanted from him, he would just follow her around happily. Even today as I write this, Quincy looks at their photos on the ‘fridge or computer and loudly exclaims who they are – so I know he had a great visit.
Well, that’s one holiday down and one to go. We had a home game for Thanksgiving, but now we are preparing for a road game to New York. It’ll be a very interesting car ride. Ho-ho-ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Almost forgot – a smattering of photos can be found here: Thanksgiving 2007.
