Quincy Sounds Off

September 24, 2011

Quincy had a plastic harmonica for a long time and was actually pretty good at it. So, for Christmas, we asked Aunt Buff if she would get a real one for him to play. It’s kinda fun listening to him play. Here’s a short sample that I was able to record.

We have been getting library books for Quincy to read lately. He has really enjoyed the variety of book the past couple of weeks. He really is a sponge. It only takes a few readings of a simple to book before he has it memorized. This audio is Quincy “reading” one of the shorter books. As I type this, I can hear him “reading” Scarebird – a much longer, more complicated story. I might have to make an audio section of just Quincy reading books. Quincy – now on audio CD. 🙂

Quincy has been memorizing a bunch of verses from his NIrV Bible. It is funny ’cause when he recites them, he appears to be reading them off of the note card – which, of course, he isn’t. But if you mix up the order, he still gets them right.

Quincy doesn’t sing in church, but he does know some songs. He surprised us today with this one – he said he learned it in church this morning.

October 6, 2008

Quincy decided to tell me all about animals, food, and a few more things this morning. There is a post about his as well.

Quincy is finding his singing voice. Here, Quincy sings “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” – rock on Q.

April 17, 2008

Quincy “reads” Todd Parr’s “Big & little” to daddy. There is a post about this as well.

March 26, 2008

It is time to revisit the alphabet song. It was last November that he sang the song, omitting letters and sounding kind of rough. Today, he did it a couple times before I recorded it and by that time he was hot-dogging it a little. He’s a little cocky now.

Quincy has memorized several of his books, including his Bible for Me book. He can recount very well a bunch of the stories. I heard him “reading” this morning and quickly wanted to record something. This short clip is from the story of Esther. What you’ll hear is something like “Haman (mumbles)….Haman (mumbles)…. You’re in big trouble.” The actual text from the story is: “Haman is,” Esther replied. “Haman! the king shouted. “You’re in big trouble!” The kid friendly story doesn’t mention that Haman was hung – probably for the best.

Quincy has been playing with his Lego Quatros again recently and likes us to build the “Tall Man” as you can hear from this clip. Not sure who or what the “Tall Man” is? Read this post.

Quincy loves letters and likes to sing the alphabet song. We’re still working on it since he skips a few letters, but he is doing a good job thus far with it.

April 2, 2007

One of Quincy’s favorite words is “owl” – I have no idea why, but it is. He loves to say it and will do so when prompted – as you can hear below.

I never knew how funny Duplo Legos could be until tonight. Quincy was making a large tower out of the 2×2 blocks when I walked in the room. For whatever reason, I picked it up and headbutted it into two pieces. Quincy thought that was hysterical. I did it a few more times to see if he was really that hard pressed for entertainment – he was – so I recorded the following laughs from him. You can clearly hear my head hit the legos right before he starts laughing.

This audio bite is Quincy sitting in his high chair after eating. He is chewing/playing with one of the straps.

February 9, 2006

Quincy is laughing hysterically at a bag of unopened granola. Hey, whatever floats his boat.

January 21, 2006

I was playing with his large stuffed dalmation and making it bark for him. You’ll hear me “bark” followed by Quincy laughing his head off, repeatedly. Great gift, Aunt Buff the Great. 🙂

January 2006

In this sound clip, I know it sounds like Quincy is not happy and/or straining, but that is not the case. He was having fun looking at his toy and also his hands. Note the one nice shrill scream in the middle. Nice lungs – you should hear him when he is upset. 🙂

January 2006

This clip is twice as long as the previous one, but there are more pauses. I took this one just a few seconds after the original clip. Notice the barking – Ashby getting his ire up about a car most likely.
