Hugs and Faces

Ah, the emergence of Toddlerhood. Quincy is really starting to come into his own and attempting to exert his will upon the world – not always with results to his liking. Just the past couple of days he started doing two new things out of the blue.

One day we were both sitting on the floor in the living room when Quincy just walked up to Dara and “leapt” into her arms for a big hug. It was very sweet and totally unexpected. We thought it might have been a fluke, but he then did it to her again 3 or more times in rapid succession. Me, on the otherhand, well, he eventually came over to me, but not without some cajoling from the proud mama. So, for those of you keeping track at home, Quincy’s order of hugging is officially thus:

  • #1 Ashby
  • #2 Stuffed Animals
  • #3 Dara
  • #4 Steve

No respect I tell ya. I know that the dog would gladly switch places with me. 🙂

Last night while we were eating supper, Quincy showed more of his personality. I was sitting across from him and made an exaggerated smile with my eyes squinted shut. I was very surprised when I looked up at him and saw that he was making the exact same face back to me! It was vey cute. Tonight at supper he made the face at me first without any prompting. Needless to say, we laughed about that, prompting him to keep doing it. He’s a little ham. Hmm, wonder where in the world he got that from…
