Fashion Guru

Quincy, who is normally quite the stylish little guy, really committed a fashion faux pas today. Let me back up just a tad – I took him to Old Navy on, Monday I believe, for some new short-sleeve shirts and to look for a pair of sandals. I got a bunch of shirts and we did find a pair of sandals that fit rather well. Thus far, he has only been able to wear them outside once because the weather has recently taken a turn for the colder. He really likes to wear them. He likes to play with the velcro straps. He likes to wear them inside. He doesn’t care what he is wearing when he wears them.

So, here you have it – Quincy wearing his sandals over his pajamas. Old people wearing sandals with socks isn’t quite as bad as this. He kept them on for quite a long time – in fact – until I changed him into clothes for the day. I have since hidden the sandals.

With the weather being cold and rainy, we have been spending a lot of time inside. Quincy usually finds plenty to do to keep himself occupied – it is dad that gets stir crazy with the same stuff day after day. So, yesterday, we made an outing to pick up some supplies to enhance the indoor experience.

Play-doh. Everybody remembers Play-doh. Quincy really likes to play with it. So, at Toys ‘R Us, I got the “barrel o Play-doh” – came with lots of molds, the fun factory, and other neat stuff. Quincy got a lot of mileage out of that yesterday. I did discover something about myself that I don’t like to admit – I’m a neat freak about certain things, and if you have played with Play-doh, you know that can be problematic. I don’t remember the fun factory being so messy. Egad, that was fun trying to get all the Play-doh out of. I also am not a fan of mixing the colors – thus the need to keep things clean. We’ll see if Dara has an easier time with that this weekend.

We also went to A.C. Moore to get some art supplies. I bought a roll of paper, a sketch book, and some washable crayons (just in case). Quincy has only recently shown an interest in coloring (scribbling at this point). The sketch book I got is one of those really big ones – plenty of real estate per page to scribble on. In fact, I had Quincy make a drawing today and have taken a picture for all of posterity. In truth, he spent longer putting the crayons in the box and dumping them out again. Focus, man, focus!
