Merry Christmas!

Wow. Christmas 2005 has come and gone. It always amazes me how much prep work goes into the holidays and then they are gone before you know it. Everyone in the Rock household stayed healthy and had a great Christmas season.

We stayed in Wellsville because Dara had no vacation available due to her using it up for her time off when Quincy was born. Quincy got to see everyone except Uncle Bill & Aunt Melissa – the Magic Kingdom closes for no man! We had a get together a few days before Christmas with Gramma Dorcas, Ryan, Debbie, Isaac and Nathan. Everything went very well and we all had a great time. Isaac was the most excited of all the boys (he is almost 4 now), but his excitement was contagious to all of us.

Quincy got some neat new toys and he has already inspected them with his mouth, and they pass the seal of approval.

Christmas morning was nice and relaxed. We got up, had our juice, opened our stockings first and then the presents. (Rock tradition). Grammie and Grampa Rock drove up from Maryland on Christmas Day and spent a couple days visiting as well. Quincy enjoyed all the company as well as all of the attention!

Quincy continues to eat solid foods twice a day now. He really likes his sweet potatoes and he’ll be adding carrots to his reportoire soon.

I set up a page of pictures from Christmas which you can access from the here. If Dara can think of more to add to this post, then I will come back and add it.

I hope that you all have a safe New Year and a great 2006!

Four Month Well Visit

Quincy had his 4 month appointment yesterday. It was very, very cold – in the single digits – and Quincy’s appointment was at 9AM, so we really had to bundle him up for the frigid air.

He currently weighs 15 lb 11 oz and is 26.25 inches tall. For you percentile fans, he is now in the 67th percentile for weight and the 89th percentile for height. His doctor said that he is still experiencing the accelerated growth period that newborns go thru. Normally, babies stop that at 2 months, but Quincy is/was still having that occur. The doctor believes he’ll end up being somewhere around the 75th percentile overall. We always knew that he was a long baby, and he just keeps getting longer!

Just when we get things down to a nice routine here at home, it is time to add something new and different. We got the go ahead to begin giving him some rice cereal at one feeding during the day. So, this not only introduces spoon feeding, but also sitting in his high-chair (which has been christened by his cousin). Everything else with Quincy is going well. He received four needle pokes just like the last time, but he bounced right back from it. He slept a little bit more yesterday than usual, but he seems to be his normal, happy self today.

Quincy is getting excited about all the family that will coming to visit soon. You gotta trust me – I can just tell. 🙂 For those of you down South, I hope your weather is a bit warmer than ours. Even Ashby didn’t like being outside the other day when it was 2.5 degrees. I can’t say that I blame him. Keep warm everyone.

4 Months Already?

We really cannot believe that it has been about 4 months since we’ve had Quincy. His official birthday is this Thursday. To mark the occasion, we’re taking him to the doctor for some shots! We believe that Quincy is messing around with his schedule to find something that works better for him. He has always slept a lot for a baby, but I think now he’s working on consolidating his sleep and wake time. It was a tiring weekend for us as he kept waking up at weird hours. This morning, for example, Dara got up and fed him at 5AM instead of his usual 6AM time. We’re doing our best to work with him and establish a new normal for him so that he doesn’t get up so stinkin’ early any more. 😉

We’ve had some snow here, but not a whole lot. Quincy likes to look out the window and stare at it since it sparkles in the sunlight. I’ve only had to shovel the end of the driveway once so that Dara didn’t have to gun the car out onto Route 19 in the mornings. 🙂 Ashby loves the snow as well and enjoys running at full speed while scooping up some in his mouth. The truly fun part is digging the snow and ice out of his paws after his walks. Stupid webbed feet…. I haven’t had Quincy outside in the snow yet because we haven’t had a warm enough day for him to be outside for any length of time. The sun is shining today, but I’ll have to check the temperature before deciding whether or not to bundle him up for some snow time.

Not much else is going on here. We’re getting ready for Christmas and all the fun that goes with that. I hope you are all having a pleasant “holiday season” – don’t want to offend people by forcing Christmas down their throats. Wait a minute, yes I do. Have a Merry Christmas people.
