Dara’s Oldest Friend

It only seemed fitting that since my oldest friend had visited us in June, that Dara’s oldest friend and her family visit in July. The Beichler family, consisting of, Bryan, Kelly, Eden, Emily, Eli and Krista drove to Maine from their home in PA and arrived on July 14.

Quincy hardly knew what to do with some many children around him. He played with all the kids and especially enjoyed being outside and playing with the girls and his wagon – taking turns riding around in it.

On Monday, I took them to the Bog Walk – Quincy has been there many times already – and the kids liked that. There’s plenty to see there and a good way to get some fresh air. Quincy actually walked almost the entire time – something he had never done in the past. See what good company can do?

Sadly, their trip was a brief one, but better short than nothing at all. Their next destination was for some camping on Mount Desert Island and some fun in Acadia National Park. We haven’t heard from them since they left, so I hope they had a fun time hiking around the island and enjoying the cooler weather Down East of us in Hampden.

I posted 8 pictures from their visit over in the photos area. It was nice weather while they were here and that always helps when there are five kids to keep entertained.

Getting Caught Up

For whatever reason, I have neglected to mention two different visits to our house by good friends of ours. I decided that while Quincy enjoyed some Sesame Street that I would catch up. I updated the timeline, by the way – that is current.

Back to June we go – I had been bugging my oldest friend for months about when he and his wife and daughter were going to make the long, arduous journey all the way from Massachusetts up to Maine. (sarcasm meter should be going up now). Well, in their defense, they both work, he coaches volleyball, and are very busy in general. We, and by that I mean our wives, finally nailed down a weekend in June for a visit.

Brady, Tracey, and Cassandra Townsend arrived at our place on Saturday, June 23 and left the following day. The two kids had a great time playing together and we just hung out here at the house. With two little-uns and naps, bedtimes, etc, we were just basically at the mercy of their respective schedules.

It was great fun just hanging out, if even for a brief visit. I know as the kids get older, it’ll be easier to make the 4 hour drive back and forth. Brady took a bunch of pictures and I snapped a few as well. Here are the three I have that look good – click to enlarge.

Question for the Readers

I go back and forth about Quincy’s site and how long to keep updating it. We do live in Maine, which makes visits difficult for almost everybody on the e-mail list. It is, however, a lot of work to keep on top of things like the Timeline and pictures, etc. I imagine it will only get harder as he gets older and is busier (hard to imagine).

So, to that end, I am conducting an informal survery of you, the readers. I have not decided what I am going to do, but am just soliciting some feedback. Feel free to leave a comment as well, after you have made your vote.

23 Months Old – July 15, 2007

Here are the 23 month old candid shots.

Here we are in full summer swing – well as summery as it gets here in Maine. The first two pictures are what Quincy wore to church, but as it got warmer during the day we changed him into something cooler. He has gotten quite good at pitching his little baseball to a batter. He has two pitches: the overhand and the sidearm. The sidearm pitch can land practically anywhere in the room, but his regular pitching motion is good – only a handful of balks were called.
