Okay, remember a little while back the video I posted of the Star Wars saga as told in a couple minutes with LEGO mini-figures? What, you don’t? That’s okay, you can watch it here. Well, the person who did that video just came out with the prequel. Enjoy the show. . . .
Gettysburg
For our last full day on our trip, we decided to head up to Gettysburg to visit a few spots on the battlefield and also the outlets that are nearby for some of Quincy’s clothing needs.
I knew Quincy wouldn’t have the patience for a lot at the battlefield, so we only did a couple things. We stopped on Confederate Avenue where there is an observation tower and we went up that. He really liked the view from up there. I pointed out Little and Big Round Top to him and told him we’d go there next – which we did.
While up on Little Round Top, I pointed out the observation tower we had just been on. I think he was impressed how far away it was. Quincy liked the cannons they had set up and asked a lot of questions about things. It started to drizzle, so we went to the nice, new visitor center for some lunch and shopping. Ironically, all the items we purchased there were for Quincy. One of his new favorite books is a graphic novel about the battle. It is well done, for being a kids book.
We hit the outlets for a little bit and then headed back to Rocky Ridge for the rest of the afternoon. Our flight the next day was early, so we had to make sure Quincy got plenty of sleep.
There are photos from our Gettysburg day, but not very many comparatively speaking.
Visiting the Beichlers
Our trip was bound to be busy, since we have a number of friends and family in the MD/PA area. We spent the majority of one day at Kelly & Bryan’s house in East Berlin, PA.
We haven’t seen them since they added Isaac to their brood. Quincy had a great time playing with their kids and getting to see the farms animals they have. As you can see from the picture, Quincy got to bottle feed a little lamb. I call her “Minty”.
When we left their house, Quincy said, “I want to come back here tomorrow”. Needless to say, he had a great time.
I also probably don’t need to tell you that their are a lot of pictures of this visit over in the gallery. What are you waiting for? Head on over there!
Washington D.C.
On of the main items on Quincy’s itinerary for our trip to MD/PA was to go to Washington D.C. so that he could go to the Air and Space Museum and to see the Lincoln Memorial. We were able to accomplish both of those things, however, the Air and Space Museum was really crowded. We weren’t the only ones there on vacation. We managed to see some neat things and had lunch there, but were ready to head on out and head down the Mall to see Mr. Lincoln.
For all the walking we did, Quincy held up great. On our way to the Lincoln Memorial, we walked past the Washington Monument, the World War II Memorial, and the Reflecting Pool (all mud and no water – you’ll see int he pictures). We also stopped at the Korean War Memorial. They had some interesting statues there. I was able to catch a glimpse of the Jefferson Memorial, but it was too far out of the way to visit. Bummer.
I think Quincy enjoyed it, but he is still a little young to really get into it full force. Some of the other highlights for him included: the ducks at the WW2 Memorial, the clover by the Washington Monument and the horses at the Lincoln Memorial. Since it wasn’t overly hot that day, we were able to jam in a lot for his little legs to bear.
