D.C. Teaser

We spent April 19th down in Washington D.C. Quincy got to do the two things on his checklist – #1 Go to the Air and Space Musuem and #2 Go to the Lincoln Memorial. Done and done. We also got to see a lot of other things because of all the walking involved.

We hadn’t been to D.C. in years and so had never seen the World War II Memorial. We had to walk right past it on or way to see Mr. Lincoln. It was very impressive. Quincy liked the mallard ducks swimming in the water and the water fountains the most.

More pictures and videos will be posted upon our return to Maine this coming weekend.

Snow Golf

It has been a weird winter this year. We have had a lot of snow. It has started to melt and been fairly mild outside recently. So, what is a boy to do? Snow Golf!

We don’t have sand traps, but Quincy and I had a lot of fun hitting the balls out of the “snow traps” – the snow flies in the air just like the sand would have. As you can see, it isn’t that cold. There’s a bunch more golfing pictures over on the photos site. You can check those out here.

This summer, I am hoping to take Quincy to the driving range so he can hit actual golf balls, but for now, he needs to be content with the plastic and/or foam ones. He hasn’t saved up that much of his allowance to replace broken windows just yet.

Quincy’s Whiteboard

Quincy has a small dry erase board that he writes things on. He usually writes the day, date and the year because that’s what his teacher writes on a big sheet of easel paper every day.

Last night, while I was at the computer doing something, Quincy was to my left on the floor writing on his white board. He asked me how to spell “well” (even though he had it correct). I knew he was there and wrote a long time, but by the time I got up, I had completely forgotten that he had written something and he didn’t mention it to me. I saw it this morning.

Spirit Week at School

This week is spirit week at school (whatever that means to a bunch of 5 and 6 year olds). Anyways, each day is labeled as certain type of day. Today, Tuesday, is Wacky Hair day. Quincy just got a haircut, so his hair doesn’t do anything wacky unless it gets a lot of help. I did my best to gel it up for him this morning so hopefully that’ll last for a little while.

Thursday is wear your pajamas to school day. He’s got a nice pair of Lego Star Wars pajamas all ready to roll.
