19 Months Old – March 15, 2007

Here are the 19 month old candid shots.

It is hard to believe another month has passed us by so quickly. Quincy and I went to Freeport today to get a few pieces of clothing for him at the outlets (winter stuff being very cheap this time of year). In these pictures, you never get to see what he was wearing for most of the day. I put him in the mismatched clothes in the early evening because he had soaked thru his diaper during his nap and I simply needed a stop-gap solution until bedtime. We had a fun outing and I even remembered to take the pictures on the correct date!

Flights of Fancy – Part II

Okay, back to the story…….we drove over to my brother’s and his wife’s house on Tuesday late in the morning. Quincy had a lot of fun observing their 2 cats although the one cat was none too pleased that Quincy was there – he hissed a lot if Quincy got too close. No blood was drawn and they eventually parted on terms where they allowed each other to peacefully coexist.

For supper on Tuesday evening we went to Disney’s Polynesian Resort for dinner and a show. We weren’t sure how Quincy would do with that, but we were game to give it a try. Surprisingly, he ate like a pig and enjoyed a good bit of the performance. Without a doubt, his favorite part of the day was the Samoan fire twirler dude. That guy was good -scary good. We got him good and tuckered out that day and he slept great that night – pretty much like he did every night on the trip.

I forgot to mention that my brother is a farmer – or at least as much of a farmer as can come out of our family. He’s always like playing in the dirt with roses and other such things. Well, now he’s in his element because he has some land with citrus trees. If that wasn’t enough, he’s going to be planting other fruits and vegetables as well. So, one of the highlights of the trip was all the fresh oranges and grapefruits we eat/drink! With the new addition of the lemon and lime trees, he’ll be canning Sprite in the not-to-distant future.

Wednesday was another Disney day for us. We figured that Quincy would really like the Animal Kingdom and decided it would be worth it to drag him there. 🙂 For those of you pooh-poohing us for wasting the money on a not yet 1.5 year old – fear not – when your brother and his wife work for Disney, you don’t pay to get in. It was well worth it, because Quincy really enjoyed seeing the animals on the safari and in the other places around the Kingdom. He got to see hippos, gorillas, elephants, giraffes, birds, and lots of fish and other mammals. Quincy probably could have stayed there all day, but we wanted to keep moving. We also went to the petting zoo they have and that was fun for him. He got to pet goats, sheep and a big cow. I believe I posted some photos about that……

Thursday was a free day for us since both our hosts had to work for the Mouse that day. We decided to drive over to Downtown Disney to shop and walk along the water that is there. Quincy enjoyed playing outside the lego store with the legos they have for kids to use. We picked a couple more Duplo kits – more for us to play with really. 🙂 The part of the day that backfired on us was dinner. Quincy really enjoyed watching the parrots outside the Rainforest Cafe. It was right around supper and it wasn’t very crowded yet, so we figured that Quincy would really like it. Whoops. We figured wrong.

We were originally seated by some gorillas – gorillas that went crazy every 5 minutes or so – and not quietly either. Quincy did not like that one bit – he cried so much we had to move somewhere else. The next location was away from the gorillas but sort of near some elephants. Quite ones you ask? Of course not. He was less scared of those, but then every 15 minutes or so a huge thunderstorm would occur. Oy. It was ugly. We got out of there as fast as we could. I can’t even remember if the food was good….

Friday was travel day. I’ll not go into much detail, but Quincy was more of a handful on the return trip. We landed in NH and then had to drive the 4 hours home. He did well with that part of the trip – just glad to be off the plane I suppose. I would say it took him a good 3 or 4 days to get back to his normal routine.

So, all in all, we had a very fun and enjoyable trip to Florida and we won’t be flying with Quincy again anytime soon. I’m sure I left out some stuff from the trip, but this post was long overdue. We’re supposed to get more snow tomorrow, so I might have something about that and the upcoming weekend. I’ll give you a little tease: ice fishing.

Valentine’s Day Storm

We got a lot of snow, okay, maybe not 100+ inches like parts of New York, but we got about 10 inches or so with the last storm that came thru. It started snowing early Wednesday morning and didn’t quit until sometime after dark. Unfortunately, there was a nice layer of ice added on top of the snow, making things all the more interesting.

Dara doesn’t see patients on Wednesdays, so she was home with me and Quincy. We had fun bundling Quincy up and taking him outside while it was actively snowing so that he could trudge around in it and ride in his sled some. We have quite the multimedia proof of all of this. I have posted 2 videos that I took while outside that day plus there are some pictures as well.

One thing we noticed up here is that the plowing isn’t as good as it was in New York state. After a couple of days, the roads tend to get better, but if you don’t need to go out for a while after a snow, then all the better.

I’m sure you’re wondering where Part II of the Florida trip is. In fact, I’m wondering that myself. Oh well, I needed to get these other things off my camera so they got bumped up to the top of the list for the site. For those of you in warmer climates – be happy I can’t pelt you with a snowball. Then again, the snow was so dry that one couldn’t even form a snowball – lucky.

18 Months Old – February 15, 2007

Here are the 18 month old candid shots.

Quincy has a candle sniffing problem. He loves to smell them. In fact, it was the easiest way for me to take pictures of him. He normally gang rushes the camera and then I end up with extreme close ups of his face and one eye. I finally have some good candid shots from home (our bedroom is where these were taken). The last bunch were taken at Dara’s office. We stopped by to take her to dinner. Quincy is a big believer in staying hydrated.
