New Location for Quincy’s Playpen

For a bunch of reasons, I have moved Quincy’s site off of my genealogy site and got him his own domain. Any requests that go to http://quincy.saurette.com will now be sent over to https://archived.quincyrock.com. The username and password is the same – make sure to change any bookmarks, etc to reflect the change. The main concern was going to be disk space available as time went on. The new server I am using for his site can hold over 3 times as much as the other one, and I am allowed more traffic. This was going to be an issue since my genealogy site has been getting a good amount of traffic lately.

Stay tuned later today for his weekly picture, a recap of our trip to Maine and the results from his 2 month well-visit.

If you have trouble with the new site, just drop me an email at either srock@quincyrock.com or srock@saurette.com.

Site Change

I originally intended just to sneak the 8 week picture up a day early and not tell anybody, but then I decided to move the week-by-week picture area. Well, I didn’t really move it – I just changed the way to access it. Instead of having to navigate into the photos area, you just need to click the Week-by-Week Pics tab on any page you are visiting. I figured that these pics get a lot of viewing, so it seemed to make sense to have that area easier to access from anywhere.

The reason for the early upload? We’re going to be gone for the next week – and since we’re planning to leave early, we had to find a way to get his new picture uploaded before we left. We are now going to find out how Quincy does on the road and away from home. I’m not gonna lie to ya’ll – we’re a little leary to see how he (and we) handle it. Hopefully when we get back, I’ll have some pictures to share, but we shall see. Have a good week everybody.

Rochester Outing

We spent yet another day up in Rochester. This time it was because Dara needed to see the dentist about, what else, a tooth. Long story short – there is nothing wrong with her teeth like she feared, she just needs to schedule a cleaning. So, while Dara was being poked and x-rayed, it was time for the boys to head out and have some fun!

I decided to drive over to Mount Hope Cemetery so that I could take Quincy for a ride in his stroller. I used to walk Ashby there on the weekends when we lived across the street on Raleigh Street. It is a nice, quiet place to be. I also thought it would be nice to take Quincy down to see where Amelia’s ashes were spread.

I parked Quincy next to the headstone and snapped a few pictures – this one being the best (click it to enlarge). He was in a surprisingly good mood considering that he was probably getting very hungry by that point. All in all, we had about a 40 minute stroll thru the cemetery before heading back to the air-conditioned car.

We ran a bunch of other errands and then finally made it hope around 8:30PM. I don’t think we’ll be driving anywhere for a few days, thankfully, as Quincy can get kinda bored being transported from place to place.

Firsts

This past weekend saw several firsts for Quincy. First off though, we had a great visit from our friends Frank, Steph & Mary Parnin. We had several outings around the area and had a nice fire in the backyard Saturday night. Quincy made sure to smile nice and big for them while they were here.

On to the firsts…..Quincy made his first trip to Sprague’s Maple Farm out in Portville. He behaved very well and we got to sit at the table that is right next to the bear family table. Dara and I are slowly mastering the one-handed eating techniques while holding a baby. He wanted to be held and take in the sights, rather than just lie in his carrier – I can’t blame him. 🙂

Also over the weekend we experienced Quincy’s first little laugh. One morning he was in such a good mood and smiling really big that I started doing stuff to him in the pack ‘n play to make his smile more and more. Oddly, the thing that got him to laugh for me was when I pretended that my hand was a face-hugger from the movie Alien. I slowly walked my fingers up his body and then lightly grabbed his head – enveloping it in my hand. This was all accompianied by sound effects, mind you. When I would remove my hand, he would smile very big and then one time he let out a laugh. I was able to replicate this a few times just to make sure that it wasn’t a fluke.

And the last first from this past weekend was the inaugural launch of Quincy in his stroller. We took our company to the local park for some fresh air for their toddler, and we took the stroller for Quincy to use. The only other time we tried it was here at the house and he screamed – of course that was a while ago. He really enjoyed his time being pushed around the park and taking in the sights and sounds. The park was empty and that helped by not having too many people around to startle him.

We said goodbye to our friends at 3AM this morning as they began their trek back to Connecticut. Quincy will be sad to see that he is “stuck” with just us again. He won’t be stuck with just us for long, since his cousins are coming for a visit tomorrow. Yeah!

Since this is Monday, be sure to check out Quincy’s seven week picture.
